Maggie Worsdale Sings Cole Porter

Had “Mickey Mouse” and “Strauss” been rhymed before Cole Porter wrote the music and lyrics to the song “YOU’RE THE TOP”?

Cole Porter (1891-1964) set new standards for popular song-writing, and his lyrics and melodies are as bright and sophisticated today as when they first dazzled audiences decades ago.

Cabaret Singer, Maggie Worsdale, highlights a handful of the more popular Porter songs and the stories behind these songs in her second speakeasy show at the Queen Street Playhouse after a sold out run in 2022.

Jazz guitarist Kevin Eubanks said this about Maggie – “Listening to her incredibly versatile vocal quality brings to mind many adjectives that only begin to describe her unique talent; sassy, sophisticated, broad, intimate, vivacious, vibrant, clear and electrifying are just a few that approach giving the listener an idea of what to expect.”

An international artist, Maggie Worsdale has performed at many of the major concert halls, cabarets and jazz venues around the country and in Europe. She has released four studio albums and has appeared as a guest artist on three others.

Maggie Worsdale has a voice that defies categorization. Jazz, Broadway, standards and novelty songs are all part of her repertoire. She is a richly talented, entertainer who has that special something, that natural born nuance that captures an audience.

Two shows: 6pm and 8pm (55 minutes each)
