The Footlight Dramatic Academy powered by Storytree Theatre is a performance based after school program fosters the creative energy and imagination of children with a myriad of backgrounds as well as educates and advances the students’ vocal, dancing, performing and writing technique.
Taught by teachers who have 30 years combined experience of performing and teaching, each class offers a fun and trusting environment where students explore every part of theatre–design, writing, and performance–while developing essential life skills–team work, critical thinking, and problem solving.
Additionally, Storytree Theatre travels to schools throughout Charleston County and use theatre based games and strategies to teach curriculum based standards. Examples of lessons include teaching the feudal system and the bubonic plague by using improv techniques that moved into students writing their own plays using words and phrases from Shakespearean text.
Our teachers are Teralyn Tanner (Acting, Auditioning, Character Development, Education Tour), Andrea Rausch (Musical Performance and Technique, Education Tour), Leah Megli (Vocal Performance and Technique), and Jill Williams (Dance and Vocal Technique).
